Parenting win

A good friend got her a shirt that reads “Puppies, Not Patriarchy.”

It was pretty big in size, so it was only the other day that she finally picked it to actually wear. We were getting ready to go to the grocery store. When she showed up in the big shirt, big smile, ready to go, I thought “Yes!”

She looked at her shirt and asked me, “what does this say?”

“Puppies, not patriarchy,” I replied.

“What does patriarchy mean?” she asked.

“It means a world where men are in charge, where they have all the power and make all the decisions. Mostly white cisgender men, in fact.”

She looked at me, and without hesitation, and with full truth said, “Not in our house!”

“Darn right, not in our house!” I replied.
